I road up in the elevator with my company's IT genius this morning, so I asked him this same question. He named 3 programs - Avast, AVG and another I don't remember. Once I heard the same two you all had recommended I knew I was set.
I asked about spyware and he recommended AdAware, SpyBot and a couple of others but you guys had nailed it again.
