I would assume that with both surgeries they will provide her with some pain meds. She may very well just lay around for a few days on the meds and be fine by day 4.

I am sure you will, but make it a key point to talk to the kids about safely picking her up for several weeks after she comes home. It is my understanding that the incisions will be smaller with that type of surgery. (the laser) I do think its standard for them to assume she will need overnight care.

Keep in mind that having them on IV's after surgery helps keep them hydrated when they spend the whole day groggy. While she may miss her bed (your vet may allow you to drop it off for her use) and you may miss her, the quiet time enclosed area will benefit her recovery.
