Aparently blood testing proved that his parents could not have come from the line they were claimed to have come from. I was willing to pay the $2000 they asked for him because the litter had AKC papers. I was quite shocked when the AKC rescinded his certification.

He is now 17 months old, weighs 8 lb 13 oz and still has his black puppy coat.

Wow what a story, I'm sorry this happened to you, there are so many unscrupulous breeders.

To the OP, I always recommend the YTCA for breeder referrals, call and talk to a few, and you will learn so much about the breed, and they will help you decide if the yorkie is a good match with your lifestyle. Don't rush the process, and sometimes you will need to go on a waiting list because they are not breeding merely to supply pets, but are actually trying to improve the breed. They often have beautiful examples of the breed that may have some tiny flaw and are placed in a pet home. Because they are not breeding as a business, they prices are very affordable, but you do have to pass stringent requirements as they are looking for permanent great homes for the offspring. Here's a link to breeder referrals. Yorkshire Terrier Club of America About The Club
