Bless your Dad for what he's been through. My dad was the only survivor from his plane and spent the rest of the war as a POW. To the day he died, he would say that 8 good men died that day and he was the sorry S.O.B. that lived. He was a good man but was haunted by what he'd been through. The struggles these men went through took a toll on the families as well, as I'm sure you know.
Funny how many twists and turns this thread has taken but it really is all on topic. The 60's were shaped by a generation of post-war children and we were all affected by the wars our fathers fought.
Hats off to all the vets. We remember and love you all.
