That would be our situation too only it is dh that is home all day instead of me. And Gracie (our rescue) is a real daddy's girl. I don't think either one of them could stand to be separated for that long! She actually quivers and watches the door the whole time he is outside smoking or in the garage. Dh would probably not be able to keep her confined if she even whimpered a little bit. LOL.

You know, I trained our gsd pretty quickly by keeping him leashed and connected to my belt loop. I think the idea behind all training is to really watch them closely and keep a routine going.
