Hi Shannon,
It sounds to my like you just have a normal mom. Panting after birth is not unusual, I have found it usually stops when their milk comes in. She is going to check on her pup every time it makes a noise or moves around. Again, normal. She is probably going to be very reluctant to leave her baby for anything for the first week or so. She probably is very tired, labor and looking after her baby is hard work, she is acting on her instincts and she is just being a good mom. Make sure she gets enough to eat, drink and time away from her baby to relieve herself and don't worry, she will let you pamper her later, right now she is just all about her baby.
