Default Sly Fox

We have a couple (at least) foxes in our neighborhood, and have had several sightings during walks or at dusk when Ms Daisy is scanning the backyard for intruders.

It always amuses me when she hits the alarm and goes absolutely ballistic when she sees one of these guys. THe funny thing is, as often as not, the foxes will just stare back for a good long while before moving off. This happened on this evening's walk as well, Foxy Brown (as opposed to Red Foxx) was just sitting there staring right at us without moving, only about 30 feet away from me and the pack (which I was carrying at the time, though a path in the light woods).

I wonder if they are sizing up a potential meal, a potential threat, or just are curious. In any case, I can tell you I WILL NEVER let my guys out around our neighborhood without a leash, fence or no fence.
