Hi - my son and his girlfriend have 2 pitbulls (1 puppy and 1 adult) While they make me nervous, they are so gentle around my 2 grandsons (5yrs and 9 months). Personally I won't let them play with Bridget mostly because of the size difference. Bridget is 5lbs and these dogs are 40 and 80 lbs. With that much of a difference accidents happen - they could get nipped, or stepped on, just playing and the outcome could be awful - not to mention the strain I think it may put on the family relationship. I, myself don't want to take that chance. It's not so much the breed because I believe that the behavior has much to do with the way they are raised. There was just a thread on YT in the last day or so where a lady was walking her 2 Yorkies, on leashes and a Dalmation came from no where and attacked them. I think any dog has the ability to be passive or aggressive - but why take the chance of one so large and strong. I realize that your daughters is still a puppy, so maybe it can be taught to be more gentle - I guess it would depend if they were together often enough for the other dog to remember to be gentle with yours. I have a 20 lb cat and when they get to playing sometimes it gets a little too rough for my liking. This is just my opinion - and we all know what they say about those...lol!!! |
