Ask to see the parents. Large parents very good chance pup will be large
Also ask if they have the pedgree of the male and female.
Asked about shot records or wormings.
Look around at the kennel. Is it clean and well kept.
Are the dogs in small kept spaces? Do they ever get to run?
Take the pup to the vet and have it checked right away.

I purchased a puppy from a breeder. She had a nice place and had very good records of the wormings and shots she had done. Very orginized and professional.
I purchased another puppy from an individual that does this as a hobby. He also had wonderful records of the puppy and gave me pictures of the puppy with the mother and father of the puppy. He also gave me copies of the pedgreee of both parents.
Not that a pedgree means anything but the more information, records and orginized they are i have noticed the more they care. I have been to other places that i just said no not really what i'm looking far and left.

Good luck..... 8 week old pup should weigh close to or under 2 pounds to be within standards this is just a guide, i have noticed lots of people buying Yorkies wanting a small dog and being disappointed because they end up weighing 10 or more punds. At 12 weeks a 4 pound pup will weigh 8 or more pounds.
