I don't think Ladyjane is at this point thinking about winning a popularity contest. Her thought are only with this per little creature that has been suffering for so long enough. Since she has worked in rescue for years, she's seen it all. The pups she has taken in have come to her from so many avenues, some the product of bad breeding, some because they just aren't wanted anymore, the reasons go on and on. These poor little creatures have no one to speak up for them or to turn to, to protect them. These wonderful rescues do that.....they pour their hearts and souls into these little dogs.
That being said, this poor little creature has been suffering for sometime, screaming in pain while her owner makes a determination of what she is going to do. This pup has no time and if anymore hesitation is made there won't be any decisiona to make. Roiree will be gone, how sad will that be, knowing that her life could have been saved had her owner just acted sooner. A rescuer's duties and alligance is to the animal first and they do and say whatever it takes to make things right.
I know as an RN in another life, there are times to be sympathetic and then there are times one just has to do something to wake that family up. Believe there have been times I've screamed at parents (I was a pediatric nurse) attempting to make them make the best choice for the child. And yes, I got in trouble, but my first concern was for the child.
Once you understand there are a few of us that are much more passionate than others, due to the fact that maybe our envolvement with these creatures is a bit more in depth. And that's not to say average pet owners aren't just as passionate, because some of them are. But, these passionate people recognize the urgency of a situation and know there is no time to waste, no sugar coating. Yes, we understand the emotions that the owner is going through, but right at that moment we don't care, it's all about the dog. I don't know how many times I've wanted to be able to put my hands through the screen and strangle someone......
Let me add in my opinion a thread such as this one, where a pup's life is on the edge is a place for anyone to be calling out anyone else on their writing style, delivery of their statments. That should be done behind the scenes |
