I think you have to take into consideration are they only getting kibble? or some kind of wet food too. Like Raw or canned? how often and how much and what kind of treats are they getting per day.
I feed my dogs ( we just switched within last 2 weeks) to a diet of primal raw chicken and natures variety venison
the chicken is 13% protein and 7% fat and the venison is 13% protein and 8% fat per meal. then I add 1 tbsp of acana prairie. which is only about 26kcal of kibble per meal.
I'm still trying to figure out what the total kcal is with the raw and the kibble combined.
Primal raw does have a feeding calculator and acana has a feeding guide on their bag.
However I am trying to maintain weight and health for one dog and lose weight with the other.
Its a balancing act and I'm sure I'll be tweeking as I go.
But I still don't have exact numbers of what the 2 tbs of kibble they are getting a day adds to their overall protein and fat percentage.
nor do I know the total kcal they're eating.
But I do feel we are on the right track as the dogs are satisfied. Madison's harness is getting loser and they have gorgeous coats and teeth.
I must be doing something right.
Good luck on your quest to find what works for you.
I'm still learning
