I had the very same problem! What i did was sand,sand,sand the existing paper,then primed w/ Kilz primer then painted the whole thing with a taupe colored paint. After that it did not look right to me so i sponged on some paint a bit lighter and a bit darker and blended. it took me some time to get it right! You could still see the seems a little bit but it ended up looking like textured wall paper. Every body just thought it was really expensive Ralph Lauren wall paper! Also there is a really thick wall paper called anaglyptica. it comes in all sorts of textures it goes up really easy(lots easier than regular wall paper!) It is white and you paint it any color you want. You can get it just about anywhere that sells wall paper. Keep us posted on your progress. Send us pictures of you project!
