I want to thank all of you for your help. I just thought breeding and delivery was uncomplicated . It was easy for the Irish Setter. I see the difference with Yorkies. I'm convinced, I know my wife wants puppies, maybe I'll have time to convince her . ZOE is 5 months old. I mentioned spaying them yesterday and she said no. My daughter lives next door. If I can figure out when Zoe comes in heat, I'll have here stay next door during that time. |
At times it can be difficult to tell when a female yorkie comes into Season. You'll just have to keep a continual watch, on a daily basis. Any changes to her personality and her private area. You will first observe that her private are will become pink and then swell. This lasts about 7 days. Then she will begin to show color. Difficult to detect, so you'll have to follow behind her when she urinates and place a tissue to her. The showing color will last for approximately 7 days. Once it begins to diminish, turn light, she'll have 7 days of coming out, this is the breeding time, when she ovulates and is able to concieve. A total of 21 days, but is best to keep her seperated for a good 4 weeks. For your male's sanity as well as the families.
You might want to discuss with your wife the cost of pre-testing both dogs prior to breeding...not cheap...You're looking at upwards of $1,000 total.
