I moved from Michigan to Georgia 12 years ago and I know what you mean about not being able to take the cold, when I go back I am miserable.
If I were to chose again I would look at North Carolina, around the Ashville area -its so beautiful. Also the beaches in North Carolina are amazing. Add South Carolina to that list also.
Georgia is nice but honestly it gets so hot here in the summer, it took me a couple of years to adapt to the heat also.
