I've known people who housesit / come to visit for a few hours. IMO that's a good idea if you have more than 1 pet and don't mind someone coming over. It can either be a friend or there are services - although I've never tried a service myself.

If you have a friend you trust you can also leave the dog there with them. My only concern would be one of money in the case of an emergency vet trip. I would 100% reimburse them for the expenses, but I know that some people don't have the money to begin with so then it becomes a question of leaving emergency money with your friends... which for some reason I am hesitant to do!
