If you aren't able to watch them 100% of the time, seperate them when you can't. But, your statement brings up another aspect of breeding. You will have to give up a minimum of 12 - 13 weeks of your life. You're whole life; day and night will have to be devoted to the care of the mother and the pups. This would begin at a week before her due date and not ending until those pups are placed with their forever families.
The cost of pretesting alone is expensive. Let alone setting aside money for a possible emergency and the required vetting of the pups. You'll need deep pockets. Much less expensive to go buy your daughter another yorkie. |
This is one of the best and most knowledgeable breeders in our community and I can personally tell you after just having experienced everything she mentioned in her cooments that she is 100% correct. What I failed to mention in my comment above Is that I didn't leave home for more than 15 minutes starting the week of her due date and Napoleon is now 6 weeks old and I still don't leave for more than 15 min at a time! It is full on expensive and just plain hard work! Really consider if you have the time, energy and money to do this and if you want to possibly risk the life of the yorkie you already love to do this! My story happens to have a happy ending but for no other reason than sheer luck!
