I am so sorry for your loss

I am living proof that it can happen to you yourself. I have posted about this before but back in 2002, me, my sister, my best friend and another guy friend were driving home from a church group cookout when a drunk driver who was driving on the wrong side of the road, hit our car head on. My best friend who was driving was killed instantly. I was sitting beside her and both my femur bones (right above my knees) broke and came through the skin (I also had a slipped disk in my neck that wasn't found until 2 months later). My sister had a back injury and the guy had a shattered hip. The drunk driver walked away with no injuries.
I also knew who drove drunk with his best friend in the car who was also drunk. They lost control and both were thrown from the car. He survived with a broken femur bone but his best friend was killed. The friend's family ended up pressing charges and he ended up in jail for awhile.
Needless to say, I am very against drunk driving and wish people would realize how often this happens. Too many people have the attitude that it won't happen to them. I'm sure I thought the same thing until it did. The hard part is that I did nothing wrong. We had to pay the price for the other person's decisions.
