Hi. What is the update today? I think maybe you emailed me thru Ellie's youtube video? but i couldn't retrieve the message.
First of all- my concern is with both you and your puppy. Both serious health situations. Although you love your baby so much- I also see where you need you need to be strong for your health surgery and recovery. I have to agree with several posts above- If you can have some one take her in during this difficult time- to care for her medical needs- then i would consider it. There are several excellent groups out there- and I personally recommend Cathy Cyr at YorkiesInc.com to offer advice.
My Ellie has AAI- she is now out of the cast and doesn't wear a neck brace right now. As i understand it- the scar tissue and ligaments are what keep the discs/spine/neck in order. IF you feel like something dramatic happened to cause the scarring to break down totally than you have two choices- a Full body cast, or immediate surgery. You CANNOT delay this. She will not survive it. If she is yelping constantly (not occasionally)- then you may have a reinjury. If she is not able to walk with stability, she has a reinjury. A neck brace will not solve the problem. She must see a neurosurgeon and get an evaluation, a body cast, or surgery. Please do this for her. Or, please locate one of the many sources available to take care of her. Please know my words or sympathetic yet firm because your options are limited and time is not on your side. Please keep us posted.
