How much do pups go for in NY?? Here the typical pup is 1500. from a reputable breeder that does testing. People do have to be careful though, since you can buy a pup cheaper here in Georgia, but they are from either puppymillers or BYB and do not do the testings and make short cuts. Most of these cheaper breeders also do not follow through with their guarantees. I get a lot of sad calls from people that tried to go cheaper and ended up with emergency visits or even a puppy that did not make it and one case I know of they had to spy on the breeder to finally confront them. Not a happy situation.
Or so many of them do not turn out to standard and then people get upset when the pup grows up to be really big, or won't grow a coat, or later in years end up with petella problems or allergies, or other problems. Going cheaper it not the best idea. Reason one has to do their research!
