Exactly. There was a string of dog napping incidents in the IE (Riverside co) when I used to live there, and if the dog had a tag that said they were chipped, the dog nappers would look for the chip and dig them out before trying to resell them.

Let's say a dishonest person finds the dog, and doesn't vet it until it is totally sick, maybe the vet will scan. HOWEVER, not all vets will scan unless you ask them to, which a dishonest person would not do. what to do then? But I have mine chipped just for the extra bit of safety. so, what am I saying? I dunno.
