I don't really want Jackson to be wearing it for reasons you stated. If someone were to find him, they would have his microchip number and I think it'd somehow be easier for them take ownership of him if they wanted to. However... I wonder if it would be smarter for people to simply have the word "microchipped" on the dogs name tag, but with no number, so that if an honest person finds your dog, and brings it to a vet/shelter/etc, they will know to scan the dog. |
But if the word "microchipped" is on the tag, the honest person can just call the number that is on there right?
I fear that if I put "microchipped" a dishonest person would keep him and then not take him to the vet for fear that a vet will discover that is not their dog. That hits close to home because my bf's parents did this exact same thing. They bred their found dog, and now have 4 puppies and the one dog they "found." It's frustrating because they won't listen to reason and they don't vet the momma dog, just the puppies.
