I've seen tons of new collar tag threads and I see lots of good posts both pro collar and against. It's been very informative. Anyway, I see lots of people put the chip number on their baby's collar. Now I'm wondering if I'm using the microchip tag the correct way.
I kid with my parents that the chip is my puppy LoJack. I have one for the car and it has this extra tag I'm suppose to carry around, similar to the tag that comes with a pup's microchip. Bear with me I have a point!

So the big yellow tag for the chip I assumed was for me to have and carry around in case Kaji ever ran off. I'd have the number handy for the chip company and his chip number. Now, some of you put that tag on your babies. I thought that you weren't suppose to do that for safety reasons. It's like having my car LoJack access key in my car. If anyone was to take the car, and that access key was inside, no one would know the car was taken until we look for it. Same with the pup, someone would have key information on my puppy making it easier for them to keep him.
I've also heard crazy stories about how people used that microchip tag information on dogs they found and simply changed ownership to themselves. So what are you suppose to do? Have your pup carry the tag, or you carry the tag? Currently, the microchip tags hangs on my key chain, but I'm wondering if Kaji should be wearing it.
