My Yorkie Tiki had her first big trip to the groomer at 5 months, to get her straggly black puppy hair trimmed off down to her lighter silvery blue color. Up until then I just trimmed a little around her face & privates as needed. Her coat color and texture has continued to change over 2 years, and I keep her in a medium-short length.
