I remember hearing about someone who took a permanent marker and wrote something like 'REMOVE RIGHT LEG ONLY' and 'THIS IS THE WRONG LEG' on their legs before surgery just to be sure everyone was on the same page.
Probably not a bad idea!! These days might want to write in several languages, too!
