All purebreds are "man-made" breeds.
Of course -- we didn't intervene to the point of making them as small as Yorkies.
Man has created different breeds of all different shapes and sizes with different temperments and abilities for different purposes.
There is no doubt that Yorkies need special care in many ways because of their small size.
