SECTION 8-C. No dog shall be eligible to compete
at any show and no dog shall receive any award at any
show in the event the natural color or shade of natural
color or the natural markings of the dog have been
altered or changed by the use of any substance whether
such substance may have been used for cleaning purposes
or for any other reason. Such cleaning substances
are to be removed before the dog enters the ring.

If in the judge’s opinion any substance has been used
to alter or change the natural color or shade of natural
color or natural markings of a dog, then in such event
the judge shall withhold any and all awards from such
dog, and the judge shall make a note in the judge’s book
giving his reason for withholding such award. The handler
or the owner, or both, of any dog or dogs from
which any award has been withheld for violation of this
section of the rules, or any judge who shall fail to perform
his duties under this section, shall be subject to
disciplinary action.

ETA That is the reason you see chalk flying in the grooming areas. They are removing the excess with a brush and a blow dryer.
My bad, I was going by the YTCA's code of ethics #7 before the change and I guess as the old saying goes hard to teach an old dog new tricks LOL...I have gone by experience of what I've seen judges do in the ring, what judges have said and what our code of ethics have said...I've seen judges speak about foreign substances, having a judge complain about hairspray being in the top knot and actually you better not take a dog in his ring with hairspray in the top knot with the Judge Dr. Berdnt because he won't hesitate to excuse you from the ring.
I can't tell ya how many times I see the shizhu people use a black marker on the black points just above their eyes, use brown chalk to brighten up the gold of most of the tan breeds ect...to me that is just cosmetic beauty enhancement and if one uses an enhancement product on a yorkie to fill in a small spot so what? As long as it's not hurting the dog and not used as an overall cover up what's the problem...as I've said many, many times the health and over all structure of the dog is of the utmost importance.
I've seen FAR WORSE of misconduct being done that an enhancement is the least of our worries...
As others have posted I have great mentors. We are all human and I guess as humans we make mistakes, break rules, rebel...just like dogs, humans aren't perfect either...get over it, move on...if you have a problem with someone take it up with them privately and own up to what your agenda is and don't hide behind a screen name....
