Thank you for all the replies.
Coco is 5 months old, weighs 2.3kg (about 5lbs) and is 28cm (11 inches) tall from the front paw to shoulder.
It isn't the weight, just the height and the size of his paws that seemed to indicate he would be big: He is about the height of a local King Charles now!
Not that it matters, he is a great dog, happily played with by two little girls. Only 'problem' is that he doesn't much like other dogs and will growl.
