I hate to see things like 500 acres of woodland mowed down, not a single tree preserved, to build a subdivision of houses that won't sell (as happened next door to my home).
However, I don't see man (and his technology) as alien in this environment or an intruder on Earth. We do need to be wise and respectful in our use of our environment.
In the wake of the green energy movement, etc, small ideas like not throwing trash at the side of the road have gotten lost. Anyone remember the McDonald's ads or the one with Iron Eyes Cody crying about trash? I think we need to bring those back.
Living near Washington, DC, Earth Day to me means tons (literally tons) of trash left on our National Mall.
