Our animal control has 2 officers for a whole county. When you call all you ever get is a recording. I did complain to the police when we had an issue last year. Long story short our leash laws are a joke. I was complaining about strays at the time. The police informed me I'd have to find out who the dogs belonged to and file a formal complaint against the owner. THE DOGS WERE STRAYS!! THEY DIDN'T HAVE OWNERS!!!! But even if I had know an owner the first complaint is a warning. The second time a fine. The third time court, and hopefully a judge fines them.
The police officer told my husband the best thing to do was just shoot them. Just make sure you don't shoot them in front of anyone. How's that for living in the 21st century. Feels more like the old west sometimes. Oh well, I'm staying in my backyard. Thanks everyone I don't feel guilty about it now. He gets exercise on our city streets fairly regularly. Thanks again |
