thank you, cirlonde!
i think it's much like how i wanted a boy so badly when i was pregnant..and i got a girl. she is my WORLD regardless of the fact she wasn't the boy i always wanted, lol.
i did end up having a boy, btw.
anyhow, i do think it's the same - we love our pets just like we love our chidren- regardless of breed, size, temperament, etc.
we are all biased to our babies!

I also strongly agree with this statement: I chose a Yorkie because the breed description and other info I found fit my household well. My husband has allergies, so I didn't want to risk a dog that sheds nor did I want dog hair all over the place regardless. I wanted a dog that would be small and travel well because we make a two-hour drive once a month to visit family. I didn't mind the coat care because I was used to that with my poodle and I didn't want another poodle since we'd just lost ours. I wanted a dog that didn't have that "doggy" odor. And out of the dogs that fit this criteria, the Yorkie was by far the most beautiful! I didn't "fall in love" with Chloe until we got her and every day I love her more. But I think this would have been true of any dog we got, no matter the breed. I'm a dog person and there are very few breeds that I can't see myself getting pretty attached to!! -C |
