If you are feeding her science diet small bites for puppies, then the primary ingredient is corn; #1 ingredient on the bag. In the top 5 ingredients there are 3 vegetables.
There are so many more better choices to feed your pup than this. A dogs gastrointestinal track is designed differently than the track of an animal who eats vegetation. Dogs simply do not digest vegetables in the same way that we do.
Check out kibbles which hold the primary ingredient status for a complete protein in the form of meat, fish, or game. That way, you know that your pup is receiving the amount of nutrition that it needs through quality foods, and not just fillers that are cheaper for the manufacturer to add in.
The primary reason carbohydrates were first added into dog food was for stability of the structure of the kibble. Now, corn, wheat flour, rice flour, and soybean flours, have all become primary ingredients due to their cost savings and their carbohydrate content. They simply are not as nutritionally dense as complete proteins, and do not provide the amount of vitamins and minerals that complete proteins do.
In my opinion, your pup would do much better on a high quality kibble with more than one complete protein in the top 5, especially since this is the time when all her organs, muscle structures, and bones are being built.
You might want to check into Innova, Wellness, Acana or one that is similar in nutritional design as these are.

Good luck!
