My Harley is 6 months old and walks very well on his leash. We had been walking regularly with a neighbor that has a yellow lab. In fact the lab helped Harley learn how to walk on leash. We were walking Sunday and one neighbor had let her 2 BIG dogs out of their fence. She assured us they were harmless. Long story short, one of her dogs jumped on the yellow lab. Thank God all our screaming and stomping startled them out of the fight. I had already picked up my baby and was walking off when the fight started. I would love to walk Harley, but I'm not going to risk his life just for exercise. We have encountered several dogs off leash in the past. They were harmless but it does make me nervous. Harley is very friendly and well socialized. He wants to greet all dogs and humans. But I am just too afraid. I want to just forget walks around the neighborhood. For his own safety I want to just walk him in my backyard. My nightmare almost happened Sunday. The only way I know I'm safe is in my own backyard. Am I being overprotective? Am I wrong?
