Always mention that your dog is spayed/neutered when talking to strangers. That way if they are thinking of stealing for breeding or asking to use him for breeding you can say...sorry he/she is fixed.
One less reason for them to steal it. Even if you have a male they are going to have to get very up close and personal to know if it's true or not.
