I think group sessions are better overall.

I've personally never taken them as I've trained Jackson myself but he's been well socialized and constantly around other dogs (dog parks, pet stores, other places, etc). I plan on taking a group agility class soon. I think socialization is really important so if they're not going to get the socialization otherwise, group training classes are perfect.

Private training is usually only needed if you
already have a problem dog. Good luck in what you choose!

Socialization is very important however, I take my dogs to a lot of places and even the dog park, so I feel I have the socialization down on my own, however for people who find it harder to find places for their dogs to interact with others using group classes can be very useful.
