I have a 7 month old female Yorkie. I'm a at a bit of a loss as to why she started behaving strangely when walking. I started walking her when she was about 4 months old with a buddy belt and fixed length leash. She has been walking like an angel next to me all the time, not going ahead, and following nudges on the lead when I wanted her to change direction.
Since a few days ago, she started pulling hard on the leash. When i nudge it, she is lying down and forcing with her paws in the opposite direction. As soon as I release the tension, she starts walking but she goes where she wants. I checked to see if maybe the buddy belt was too tight or uncomfortable but it seems fine. Could it just be a 'teenage' behavioral problem or is she getting close to her first heat and the hormones are changing her attitude?
