Dont get any of the cheap brands from the grocery store, they can be harmful to your pets health.
I really like frontline plus, I have used it for years on many dogs (and cats) and it works great. You put it on once a month and after a few days you can bathe them again without issue. This works for fleas and ticks. I use interceptor (a pill) for heartworm but there are some products that do everything in one pill.
