I would say yes. Riley's puppy coat SUCKED!! it was so stringy but it felt corse. and it was really dull looking. but now he is 3 yrs old and he has a BRAUTIFUL coat, that is still on the fine side, but it is so soft and silky and a pretty steal blue, and no longer that stringy crap, so I would say yes to your question, going on my experience with how much his coat changed when the puppy coat was gone,
