That is about right for the surgery. I have actually paid more with a board certified vet.
This is a pretty commonly done surgery and they do recover quickly from it.
You might want to apply for Care Credit, but you would need to go to a vet that participates. The nice thing about it is that often it is interest free for a period of time.
