yes the tubing can cause irritation as it is stated any time you put a dog under. The dentist we use goes over risks of a dog going under and trachea is one thing they discuss before putting them under as they did with dd and demi. My demi and dd came out of anesthesia and did not hack once after going under nor did dex for plasma transfusion but i did ask with demi and dd and they assured me they have all sized tubes but this was a specialist.
People should not be afraid they should be educated though so they are comfortable and aware
