Vellus anti static spray is good for brush out very light. Also their conditioner when diluted properly is the lightest thing I've used so far. Also Razz's hair started to dry out due to his love of lying over the heat vent!.

Another idea is maybe you are not rising the conditioner out enough? The hair if rinsed properly should only have a slight slick to it ( wow try saying slight slick ..out loud fast three times.lol lol)
