I was liking the 1st post better.
I've been here since 2004 - and on sites before YT when I got my girls so that makes 8 years or more total. I feel I can say this .....the site is excellent. NO internet forum is controversary free -
I posted on a terminal illness site when my husband was diagnosed - you'd think it would be full of support right ? Nope - it had it in abundance but it also had just what you have issues with. Even more than other sites I've seen and it was a HEALTH support site with people dying on it.
I read things I was shocked about. It was full of info and full of very condesendating rude people. I gathered what I needed and took the good with the not so good. It's the internet. You get all walks of life. I never judged the site by the controversary but the information and content. You have to.
I've always gone out of my way to be encouraging and joke around but the bottom line is - drama or no drama.... I can't tell you how many things I've learned by being here. Still do and many times it's those 'drama' threads that I've read something I didn't know about in.
I know you had a rocky start - please see that the same people you have a hard time with are the people that are there for others in many other ways ..while some are far more direct or blunt than others but - they're still educating no matter how it happens.
I'm not a blunt type poster but there have been times when I wish I were - I've seen so so many things that bug my eyes out ....The people who you have issues with love dogs - first and formost .....No doubt about it. Some things just can't be sugar coated.
I know I'd stop reading if I read a bunch of fluff here. it's a dog lover site -not a popularity contest. I know one thing - if I were a breeder I couldn't be here - I just couldn't - too many things that blow my mind when reading.
MANY 'drama' threads are full of information that others may learn from. We sure don't have to agree with wording etc but we have to agree most are here for the same reason - to TRY to make a difference.
I know first hand what some of the people who get slammed do that they
never get credit for. They seem to be getting credit only for being outspoken ...we have to realize there may be alot more than meets the eye.
If someone wanted to cause drama on purpose there's plenty of sites that are nothing BUT that - after the years I've been here - there's no more drama now than in the past. It just seems to be getting singled out frequently lately.
there are a heck of alot more members here also - it stands to reason there's always going to be some controversary - I've seen it with new people now also - some sign up and boom - they're on attack.
I feel THAT'S changed - but then again - it IS the internet full of people with all types of personalities. We can't judge a whole site from just a few that you may find fault with.
Sorry this is so long....it's Sunday and started raining YIPEE ! I was hoping to veg out today so that's my excuse for a ramble - thanks for listening !
