I had a friend whose dog got out one day and was found 50 miles away! Thankfully, he was chipped and the person who found him checked for that. He was in pretty sad shape, but quickly recovered.
I would never just keep a found yorkie. First thing I suggest is that you check for a microchip and then check for signs although they do travel. Also check in the newspaper and on CL. Never give any details to anyone regarding the sex and/or markings on a lost pup. Let the owners identify...and with pictures as well!

I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow to have her checked out and checked for a chip. If this was my Mia I would want them to do the same thing. I hope she has a owner somewhere that wants her back..
It is a very sad situation!
