When i was a little girl my mom got a standard poodle from our neighbor who did not take very good care of him. When we got him he was a mess,dirty and very unkept. Also they did not dock his tail when he was born.(we got him when he was 7 months old) My mom took him to the vet and the vet told her his tail needed to be docked. This was forty years ago so she just did what the vet suggested and had it docked. They cut it fairly long at 6 inches.After we got him home he started chewing on the bandage. No matter what we did he just could not stop chewing it....he was crazed! Long story short....he ended up chewing his tail into a stump. At one point we had a cast put on his neck so he could not turn his head to chew on it. Even thay didn't stop poor Rebel eventually the dog got an infefection and he finally died of infection
