I'll state the obvious. Hanging a DO NOT DISTURB sign on your door will not work - closing the door probably won't work so you may be doomed to have 3-ways.
They can be VERY interested in certain human behavior ...controlling too ...and as bad as it sounds - be
right in the middle of every little thing
