I am terribly sorry for your loss and hope that you soon find a bit of peace. I can understand wanting to know why...just please don't get yourself caught up in the blame game.
Sounds to me as if the vet really did want to xray and that most likely would have resulted in a referral to a neurologist (they don't refer to a specialist without clear signs/symptoms and it sounds like pain was the only one...an xray would have been the next step).....but, I have a strong feeling that it would not have changed the end result. DaVinci seems to have been a very sick puppy. Just so unbelievably tragic.
