I'm glad someone said no you shouldn't iron the coat. Even though flat ironing has it's place in the ring, untrained yorkie mom/dads should not do it. It won't stay straight unless you're going to make them stand still without laying on it or just walking. It's not for everyone. A dog can be burned in no time.

Here's what you do for a straighter pet coat. Begin w/ knowing your coat type (we can help you by descriptions etc). I'll assume you don't have a true silk just b/c you are asking this very question. I may be wrong. But true silks are pretty straight without much work.

Use the correct shampoo/conditioner for it properly. If you aren't positive how or what we can help w/ that. Blow dry until it is fully dry. If you have a modified coat you must work the brush while you dry.
