I dont know exactly how long mine sleep but its not as long as yours for sure.
I dont know what they do when I am not home but I alwys find the toybox emptied around my room so I know they are not sleeping the whole time... they sleep most of the night but do get up sometimes to play with a toy or go potty during that time as well.
Make sure you are leaving plenty of things to keep your little one busy while you are gone, so they have something to do besides sleep!
