Your vet with advise you on after surgery care, like keeping him calm, and well rested. You may need stairs to get up / down off furniture, jumping down might be an ongoing trouble.
On the up side, dogs adapt, AMAZINGLY well to such a thing! Toileting may require a little patience, and might involve more frequent bum washes for awhile. But life should get normal fairly quickly.
