I always wondered where the notion that a dog's mouth is cleaner than a human's come from? I'm pretty sure it's one bit urban legend.
My girl actually got my lip and nipped it today when she got a few kisses in on me so I have to really work at stopping her/calming her down with the kisses! |
It's not a urban legend. When my daughter was a senior in high school, she had to do swabs of different things, to check bacteria growth. Our dogs mouth was one of the swabs. Come to find out the petre dish came back with one or two minute spots in it. Every thing else was "gross" and the dishes were full. And really if you think about it, if they didn't have those germ killing agents built in, they would be sick all the time.
