I am not a rescuer, if there is a need for help and I can or want to do it then I will. I didn't rescue Mindy, we were helping my husbands friend. I was involved with cocker "rescue" for a long time and learned more then I ever wanted to about "rescues".. but I wont get into that.

It just really bothers be your attitude about elderly adopting dogs and I have seen this before with another person and it is just wrong! Nobody should have that kind of power over others.

Dogs need homes, people need dogs. If they can give the dog everything it needs and they are a healthy active couple, why would it be right to deny them simply on their age!!??

This is what ticks me off with A LOT of "rescues". I adopted a child many years ago and I went through less poking in my life then I did when I wanted to adopt a dog once.. Made me sick..

My friend was turned down because she didn't have kids! Thats INSANE! She cannot have kids and they actually turned them down for that. And then the rescues all wonder why most people just go out and buy a dog.

Please. I am having a hard enough time with all this, I am very capable of re-homing Mindy and I really don't need to be told how to do something
You know what.....

Our rescue is full right now. Why? Because breeders let anyone who wants a dog have one. Just as long as they have money. Many do NO screening and some do minimal.

To say that people NEED dogs is shocking to me. They WANT them...does not mean the NEED them.

Too many people's needs are met by breeders and this is why we have a mess that we rescuers must clean up. Now...before you jump up and down, let me say that there are MANY reputable breeders who are NOT the ones I am referring to. A reputable breeder will make people jump through the same hoops a reputable rescue will!

I make no excuses for making people jump through hoops to get one of my rescues. The pups do NOT come back. I do it right the first time. I suppose one day one might return, but so far in five years, none have. And, yes, I do follow up on them.
